Okay, so, I’ve been wanting a Fendi Mon Tresor Mini for a while now, but, like, they’re super expensive, right? So I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I’m not a pro or anything, but I’m pretty crafty, and I figured it would be a fun little project.
First off, I needed to find some materials. I went to a few local craft stores and found some faux leather that looked pretty decent. I decided to go with a classic brown color. I wanted that leather and mesh look that these bags have.
Next up, I need to find the mesh, I found the mesh in a fabric store. I found the one that similar with the original, and I thought, yeah, that’s it.
- Leather: I picked up two kinds, one for the main body and a slightly different one for the details.
- Mesh: I found some black mesh fabric that looked pretty close to the original. I grab it.
- Hardware: This was a bit tricky. I ended up ordering some gold-tone rings and a drawstring closure online.
- Tools: I already had most of the tools I needed like a cutting mat, a rotary cutter, a ruler, and some heavy-duty needles.
I started by sketching out a rough pattern. I looked at a bunch of pictures of the bag online to get the shape and dimensions right. Then, I carefully cut out the leather and mesh pieces. Sewing the leather was a bit of a challenge, it’s way tougher than regular fabric, but I used a heavy-duty needle and went slow, and it worked out okay.
The mesh part was actually easier to work with. I just had to make sure the edges were neat. I used the mesh for the top part of the bag and it looked pretty good!
Putting it all together took some time, I also did some hand-stitching on the details. I found these two straps, one short and one long and I attached them to the bag.
I gotta say, it took way longer than I expected. But I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not exactly like the original Fendi, but it’s got that same vibe, you know? It’s my very own, one-of-a-kind Fendi Mon Tresor Mini.
Anyway, it was a pretty fun experience, and I learned a lot along the way. It was a tough but fun project. Plus, I saved a ton of money! Maybe I’ll try making another one sometime, but for now, I’m just gonna enjoy rocking my new bag.
