Okay, so, I’ve been wanting a Rolex Submariner for a while now, especially the green one. But man, those things are expensive! I mean, even the cheapest new ones start at like, $10,000 or more. No way I can afford that. But then I heard about these “high imitation” watches that are supposed to look exactly like the real thing, but for way less money.
So, I started digging around. I found some places online, they call it an “original order.” I decided to give it a shot. I ordered one of these high imitation green Submariners.
First, I compared a bunch of pictures online. Real Rolexes have this little pearl thing, called a “pip,” at the top of the bezel, at the 12 o’clock mark. It’s supposed to be perfectly centered in this little upside-down triangle. I looked at a ton of pictures of real ones to get a good idea of what it should look like.
Then I started checking out the imitation watches. A lot of them had the pip off-center, or it looked kind of discolored. Not good. I kept searching until I found one that looked pretty spot on. The pip was centered, the color looked right. It looked promising.
When it arrived, I was pretty impressed. The first thing I noticed was the weight. This thing was heavy, just like I imagine a real Rolex would be. It didn’t feel cheap at all. The band was all shiny and metallic. It had that two-tone blue look, real nice.
- I examined the pip closely. It was right where it was supposed to be, perfectly centered.
- I checked the color of the bezel. It was that deep green, just like the real deal.
- I wound it up and listened to the movement. It sounded smooth, not all rough and noisy.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and honestly, I’m loving it. It looks great, it feels great. It tells time just like it should. I’m not going to lie, I’ve gotten a few compliments on it. People think it’s a real Rolex! Of course, I’m not going around telling everyone it’s real. But it’s nice to have something that looks so good without breaking the bank.
My Personal Experience
Look, I know some people are going to be against these imitation watches. But for me, it’s a good solution. I get the look I want without spending a fortune. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to afford the real thing. But for now, this high imitation Submariner is doing just fine.
