I’ve always been a watch guy, and I’ve had my eye on the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch for a while now. It’s a classic, iconic timepiece with a cool history, and I finally decided to pull the trigger and get one with an open case back. Here’s how it all went down.

Deciding on the Model

First, I spent a lot of time looking at different versions of the Speedmaster. There are so many! I knew I wanted the “Moonwatch” specifically, the one that’s closest to what the astronauts wore. But even then, there were choices to make. I finally settled on one with an open case back because, frankly, I just think it looks awesome. It is so cool that you can see the movement ticking away inside.

Finding a Dealer

Next up was figuring out where to buy it. I checked out the official OMEGA website, of course, and looked at some authorized dealers in my area. I also did some browsing online, reading reviews and comparing prices. I even went into a couple of shops to try the watch on and see it in person. This part took a while. I felt that I gotta be careful.

Making the Purchase

After all that research, I finally found a dealer I felt comfortable with. They had the exact model I wanted in stock, and the price was right. I went to the store in person, just to make sure everything was on the up and up, then talked with the salesperson, asked a few questions, and then I bought it! I swiped my card, signed the papers, and walked out of there with a brand new OMEGA Speedmaster on my wrist. It felt great.

Unboxing and First Impressions

Getting the watch home and unboxing it was a real treat. OMEGA does a great job with their packaging. It’s all very fancy and well-presented. The watch itself was even more beautiful in person than I expected. It has that classic, timeless look, and the open case back is just amazing. I spent a good chunk of time just staring at the movement, watching all the little gears and springs do their thing.

Wearing It Out

  • First day: Wore it to work. Felt pretty darn good having it on my wrist. Got a couple of compliments, too!
  • Weekend: Took it out for a casual day. It looks just as good with jeans and a t-shirt as it does with a suit.
  • Special Occasion: Wore it to a fancy dinner. Definitely felt like the right watch for the occasion.

It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m still loving my Speedmaster. It’s a great watch, and I’m happy I finally got one. It was a bit of a journey to get here, but it was definitely worth it.
