Hey everyone, I gotta share this crazy project I just did. So, I got this wild idea to try and remake a Patek Philippe Gondolo, the 7042/100R-010 model. Yeah, I’m talking about that super fancy watch, you know, the one with all the diamonds and stuff. I know, I know, it sounds nuts, but I saw this thing online, and I just fell in love with it. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t?
The “Gondolo” name? It comes from this Brazilian watch guy Patek Philippe was cool with back in the day. Interesting, right? This name has some history! Anyway, I’m looking at this watch, and I’m like, “I gotta have it.” But, obviously, I’m not made of money. So I thought, “Why not try to make my own?”
First, I started doing some digging. I went to their official flagship store online, trying to get as many details about the original as possible. I spent hours looking at pictures, reading descriptions, and trying to get a feel for what I was up against. This thing was seriously detailed. I was starting to get worried that I might have bitten off more than I could chew.
Then I started looking into where I could get parts that would work. I found a bunch of places online, but honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. There are so many different parts, and I didn’t want to mess it up. I spent days comparing prices and reading reviews. It was a whole process, let me tell you. You need to be careful to find the best and most suitable parts.
Getting Down to Business
Once I felt like I had a handle on the parts I needed, I started ordering stuff. This was both exciting and nerve-wracking! Waiting for everything to arrive felt like it took forever. Every day, I checked the tracking information. I was so eager to get started. When the packages started coming in, I carefully opened them and checked everything out.
Next, I had to start putting this thing together. This was the real test. I cleared off my workbench and laid out all my tools. I tried to be super careful, but man, it was tough. These pieces are tiny, and my hands are not exactly steady. I might have messed up a few times, not gonna lie. I started to think that it would be better to hire a professional to do the work. But I’d already spent so much time on this. I wanted to see it through.
I spent so much time on this part of the process. It felt like I was going in circles some days. But I kept at it. I wanted to make this watch so badly. I’d try something, it wouldn’t work, and I’d have to go back to the drawing board. Look at the instructions over and over again.
Finally Finished
And you know what? After all that, I actually did it. I made a watch that looks pretty darn close to the real Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. I couldn’t believe it. I actually did it. Of course, it’s not perfect. But I’m still proud of myself.
So, if you’re thinking about doing something like this, just be ready to put in the work. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely rewarding. You need to be patient and persistent. And don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. It might take some time to get it right, but trust me, the feeling you get when you finally finish is amazing.
- Be Prepared: It’s going to be a long process.
- Do Your Research: You need to know what you’re doing.
- Don’t Give Up: You’ll get it eventually.
Anyway, that’s my story. I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what you think in the comments!
